That's not really true. You can read about this at http://www.tabberone.com. In a nutshell, though, the First Sale Doctrine says that once an item has been sold, the seller has no more control over what happens to it afterward. Meaning, if you have purchased a lawfully made piece of fabric - licensed or not - you can do with it what you please.

However... if for instance it it has Mickey Mouse on it, and you make a child's apron, you have to be careful how you describe it. You cannot call it an officially licensed Mickey Mouse or Disney apron. You can say that it is made from officially licensed fabric.

Consider the people who are likely to attend and the local economy. Base your projects on that so you don't go over their budgets.

Think of items your visitors may want to give as major gifts or thank-you gifts. On your table label a few items as possible thank-you gifts, teacher's gifts etc.

I was thinking of fabrics that are franchised and sold with emblems and colors of football teams. I guess you can buy this material and make gifts for your family but you can't sell it for profit, like hot pads with the Cowboys or Saints logos on it. Too bad because they would sell well, be easy to make and not cost much.
