Finally I found something good at a local yard sale but DH hasn't carried it upstairs for me yet. I found a Singer machine, perhaps 50's or 60's vintage, in good shape and it appears well cared for. The price was marked $5 but DH offered $3 and they took it. They had another really old and rather beat up blue singer and the seller asked if we wanted that for $1. Not interested in that because it appeared rusty and I know we'd not spend the time fixing it since I already have about 4-5 Singers now.

I buy any machines I see and fix them up. Then find someone who cannot afford one who likes to quilt. Love to go the thrift stores and garage sales. Your deal was great.
