That's really good idea. Thanks for sharing that.

How do you measure width of strip with yardstick. Mine is only about 1 inch wide and I almost nver cut strips that width. And using lines on cutting mat is not safe as they are not always accurate. Fabric should be measured with ruler not mat. Some mats do not even have lines on them for that reason.

I would not use a wooden yardstick. Have you ever looked at the straightness of them?? They are not accurate. The metal ones may work but I prefer to see the fabric that I am trying to get a perfect cut on!!!

I bought an acrylic yardstick and have used it on long cuts. But prefer shorter cuts with the material folded

I use a metal yardstick, a metal 12" ruler and my husband gave me his old 48" T-square. I have a couple of wooden yardsticks too.

I use my yardstick quite a bit. I do cut alot of long 45 degree strip sets into long sections. I have not had any issues , infoact its an old one and quite thick , so the rotary cutter really hugs the edge with out going onto the yard stick.

I don't have a yardstick, but one of my favorite rulers is a 40" long acrylic one that a neighbor gave me. I think it's a drafting ruler. She said she got it back in the 70's.

I would think that using a metal yardstick would dull your rotary cutter blade pretty fast and using a wooden one, it wouldn't take much to get your blade stuck in the wood and it would not be very accurate for long. Just my thoughts.

I think you could be very right on both accounts...
