Their thinking might be that if you know the yardage needed and can see the picture, you won't buy the pattern. Still, I agree that if you are purchasing the pattern you should be able to call or email the store and ask them to read off the amounts needed. I'm sure they would do that especially if you are buying the fabric at the same time.

And isn't that the same pattern as the "Fabric Fling" that's all over this board?

Yes they are very close if not the same except for the borders. Here are pics for everyone to see what I am talking about and the fabrics I want to use. The fabric is a line called Frolic by Moda.

sometimes you can figure out how to do patterns by the photos, so yardage would just be that much more help.
calling them is a good suggestion though.

It says it takes Jelly Rolls so you could pretty much figure out by figuring what size you want it to finish and then how many Jelly Rolls it takes to reach that size. Figure 40 strips in a Jelly Roll at 2.5" wide cut width of fabric or 42 inches to be safe--might be 44-45" in reality but you'll want to deduct for selvages and just in case. So, 2.5" x 40 = 100 inches divide by 36 = 2.777 yards in 1 Jelly Roll.

It says the crib size is 31 x 46" so right at 1 yard of fabric so 1 Jelly Roll would be more than enough for that size. Throw size is a little bigger and theoretically, a Jelly Roll has enough yardage to cover it but I'd get at least a couple coordinating fat quarters to CYA. (Cover Your @$$)

I just did the math - a Jelly Roll comes out to around $12 a yard. I guess you get all the variety of the line and don't have to cut - but you can't prewash.

    crib size 22 strips,binding 1/2yd., backing 1 3/4 yd .
    lap size 39 strips,binding 2/3 yd.,backing 3 1/3yd.
full size 100 strips, binding 3/4 yd., backing 5 1/3 yd.
if using yardage you will need 1/3 yd. of each fabric. 6 fabrics for crib. 10 fabrics for lap. 25 fabrics for full.Hope this helps.
