IMHO you are a fabric artist....it is the same for paint artist, it is an expression of your art....."a place to go" is irrelevent

i have tried to keep my expressions to certain sizes...the sizes the hospitals around here preferr.

Yes I am. Went to Hancock Fabrics on Monday, just to pick up a couple of yards of a white on white fabric I need to finish a quilt. Also needed some crewel thread. There was a sale going on. Came out with more than just the white I went in for. Went back on Tuesday to get some more of the sale fabric. Guess what? Both times I forgot the crewel thread. So, yes, I am a fabric junkie.

Not only a fabric junkie turning into a sewing machine junkie. 2 vikings, 1 serger, 1 singer treadle, 1 singer from 1937 that I didn't think to look for the cords, and now I found a featherweight for 275.00 with all the bells and whistles, what to do, what to do

I have been a fabric junkie since I was 5 years old and my grandmother allowed me to play in her stash scraps. She was a seamstress in a coat factory. The fabrics she brought home (all throwaway scraps) were wonderful. All colors and fabrics. The textures were what first attracted me (as well as the colors). I slept under many a wonderful scrappy quilt made by her. Wool was the #1 fabric but there were velvets and satins (lining) and leather. The whole family had coats and quilts from grandma's loving hands. I wish the quilts had lasted through the years. After many cleanings (outside with the cornmeal and a soft brush), and years in the cedar chest, the quilts had to be thrown away. I do still have my other grandma's hand made quilt though. It is cotton and needs repair, but I have managed to save it.

Yes, I have always loved to just walk through and look at fabric even if I am not buying any that day.

Oh yes I am! I have a very large stash and I love it. I go through it and get excited all over again. I love quilting books and magazines but I think I love fabric most of all!

What fun to read all these comments - and how reassuring to know that I'm not the only one here with this ( do we even call it a problem???). I don't spend so much in fabric stores - but love to garage sale/Craigslist and find fabric on sale.
