WalMarts remnants are only 20% off. After years of JoAnn's 50%, that bothers me. My LQS's remnants are 20 cents an inch. $7.20 a yard seems high for rems, but I still have to check everywhere I go.

I love remenants and they are usually perfect for adding a spot of color, or to use for applique or small gift projects!

My friends call me a fabric snob. I can never even find anything I like on the sale rack.. LOL _ never knew the shops had remnants. I will look next time I go to Hancock's. Thanks for the tip.

Around my area, remnants seem awfully expensive. I look sometimes, but never find any good deals.

After working many years in retail fabric sales of course I'm a remnant junkie. It was often a way to get the newest fabrics then and we (all the employees) watched for those tiny flaws that we didn't want to sell to customer but we were willing to work around for a bigger bargain--at that time if a remnant was flawed you usually got an extra 50% discount on it. Now I'm disabled and remnantsreally help but they aren't as cheap and Joanne's no longer reduces for flaws but atleast my local one marks flawed ones so you can have them checked for usability before buying.

Me too, having lots of small pieces in all colors is a good thing when I make scrappy quilts - say all different blues and yellow with whites - makes an attractive quilt.

I still look at the remnant rack. It was like the forerunner to the fat quarters.
