Both. I keep my little scraps for applique projects, small quilts, etc.

I guess I define myself as a scrappy quilter. I do buy fabric especially for a gift quilt but mostly love to just buy what I think is pretty and save it in my stash for scrappy quilts. Also hunt thrift stores and yard sales for "old" cotton fabric.

I do both , but when I get into making a scrappy I am in my own little world, I am free to do a quilt the way I want it; To me quilting is a touch of heaven here on earth.

I am a preplanner; however, my DDIL has requested a scrappy quilt from my stash. I must admit that I'm excited to see if I can pull it off while using up some of ever-expanding fabric collection.

Scrappy is easier for me as I am color blind! Plus I love fabric to much to just use a couple of pieces for a quilt.

I get too bored with only a limited number of colors. Scrappy all the way for me. Much more fun.
