When they charge $25.00 per class, that means no matter how many dates it takes to make the jacket; e.g., two, $25.00 is all you pay, not each class. At least that is how it is where I live. GiGi

I've done much of my learning at home, but have many demands on my time with caregiver duties with my mother, building our home, etc. I use the classes at our local quilt shop as a "reward" and "escape" from the stress of all that! And, I've learned new things that I might not have ever tried on my own! There are always shortcuts and tips to learn from someone else!

Good luck with what works for you!

I Like to do both, I sew at home alone, then I go two days a week to a quilt shop and work there, so I have gotten where I also like sewing with a group, we have a set and sew once a month that is a lot of fun, there is so many things I have learned that make my quilts come out better, I have also taken some classes to learn paper piecing and other ways to do things, so I like doing it both ways.

Mostly home, but I do take the $5.00 BOM class at my LQS. I suppose if money wasn't an issue, I would take more classes.

This board has been the best thing since sliced bread!!!!!!!!
There are ANGELS amongst us! I had knee replacement that didn’t really go as planned and when I joined here someone (can’t remember now who!) was wanting to know what to do with scraps and I asked for them (would have paid postage!) and so many of you sent me the things a lot would have thrown out! Tiny was what I really wanted! Was just the thing for my “Crazy Quilt” (doing the Fun & Done method) which by the way…..I gave to my cousin that has cancer…they have called in hospice (going have to make me another one! ) She sure enjoys it!

I have been quilting (or what you call quilting!! Hee hee) for 30 years +. That was because of 4 kids. Most back then was tacked and BIG stitches hand quilted!
We use to have a quilt club that met once a month and I really liked it back then, but life had other things in store for me…working nights! So there went that! But, between that short time of interacting with friends and magazines and a very good friend, I have learned a lot. (I thought)

Except for the fact that I have learned so much on this site since I have been here I will NEVER get to do all the things I have been taught in the last few months! And new TIPS and TRICKS that I would have never thought of in 20 life times!!! No class can do ALL that!

A SUPER BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOU

I read several times a day (takes my mind off pain!!!!) on here and have “lurked” on the chat. There are no words that I can write here to say what great people that the Lord has brought my way thru this board! Awesome, fantastic and wonderful is not nearly enough!

Who needs “classes”, “clubs”, “guilds” and whatever!!!!
    Mary

In my book, 44 is a youngster!!! Remember...old is always 20 years older than what you currently are!!! Or so said my wise grandfather!! :D

Old fuddy duddy, no way, you're just a girl. Add 30 years to yours and that's me but I certainly don't think of myself as an old fuddy duddy, it's just my body that acts old sometimes, LOL! May in Jersey

I agree with May in Jersey about fuddy duddy-ing. I'm vintage now in a 65 year old body. The gray cells tho' still think much younger, like when I was in my 20's & 30's. I don't jump around because the 65 year old knees won't let me. Even when I was younger I was pretty much a loner but I do enjoy a quilt chat with my sewing buddies when we get to gether and I do so enjoy the Quilting Board.
