I have surprised myself by going more for the bold colors or dramatic color combinations. Some pastel fabrics are pretty to look at by I rarely use them in a quilt. I like civil war and 30"s prints but haven't used them yet.

It makes sense to me. I do oil paintings. The helpful "hints" I get are that I blend things together so nothing "pops". I prefer a blended look where the painting has kind of a misty look.

I guess I'm Subtle Sally. I like soft colors and most every quilt I have made has been so. I especially like pastels.

I guess I would have to say that I'm a Bold Betty. I like the bright colors and patterns. I do, however, enjoy looking at other peoples quilts that are more subtle. I enjoy the differences of the two styles.
It's great that we can all do what we like and enjoy. Thank god and vets that we can!

I like the pattern or accent to be just that- an accent. So I go for more "pop". that does not mean that I neccessarily use bright fabrics. I believe there is a difference.

To date I have only made one quilt that could fall under the traditional category. Everything else falls under contemporary or 'unusual'.

DEPENDS WHO THE QUILT IS FOR. BABIES TEND TO LIKE COLORFUL QUILTS. OLDER PEOPLE (SENIORS) TEND TO NAVITATE TO SUBTLE. MEN FOR THE MOST PART LIKE SUBTLE. SO, IT DEPENDS
