I think they need reminding what "Good Will" is. It's the same here in Australia. My best friend often scores great bargains but wasn't impressed by the one near me. Said it was very expensive.

I don't shop goodwill as that's where a lot of my clothes came from as a teen. Didn't stop my daughters, though they have changed a lot. There are a lot of new or near new things now. I'm not a snob and will gladly wear things given to me by people I know.

Our Goodwill has prices that are too high also. I dont understand how they expect to get the prices they are asking. DONATIONS are supposed to be sold with the idea that they are affordable and the money goes to charity. Many times you can buy new for less. Some of the old things need so much time and money put into them, it isnt worth it. SIGH

at my local goodwill once at the end of the month they have half off everything. thats the only time i go to look, sometimes i find a deal. their reasons are its to help disadvantage people have a job. i agree lower the prices of the free donated items and sell more. alot of clothes end up being sold by the pound for rags.

Hmmmm....I don't understand the high prices. :? Everything they receive is donated so why would they feel it necessary to price things so high? Isn't the idea to get rid of the stuff?? With prices like that they will never sell, or they will take a very long time to sell. Lower the prices, and the stuff will fly out the doors. Then they can put out other things that they have stored in the back room!! A dear friend of mine worked at a thrift shop, and they got so much stuff that they couldn't process all of it. Their prices were really low, but there was such a mountain of stuff in the basement storage area that they had to call other charities and give it away to them! :|

i have found that in this area that the the GW's have gone up a lot as well. I woudl rather wait for clearance sales at the mall to shop then but their second hand items anymore. Where I grew up in NJ we did not have GW stores and when I first came to VA I was happy to find them, now I wish I had my olde Church or hospital ran thrift stores. Much better.

I do much better than that at the little town local thrift stores. The other day I bought a #6 crock pot (the big brown/white one) for $15.00! I wouldn't waste my time at that GW anymore!

I can go to my local Kohls and get clothes on sale cheeper and new
I have seen them mark up prices on donated items from garage sales dont even bother to take price tags off. I wanted a purse once for the cute zipper was told it was $15 wasn't even a big name purse
