I use whatever I have that looks good with the blocks. I was given a very old, scrappy 9-Patch from a friends grandmother, and she used a cream with pink polkadots. It looks great.

I love that. Is it difficult to do?

    Red face Blue skies

I made this quilt of stars and planned to use a white or cream background. Then I'm thinking the sky is blue, why not make the background blue. Worked great! My daughter loves it!

I buy white by the bolt, not the yard...but I also use a lot of greys, creams and black. Just depends on the material I choose for the quilt.

I rarely use white. I do use black a lot. Also, i try to find a color I like that will contrast nicely.

I'm the "always white background" gal but....WOW!...when I saw the picture of christinelf's with the bright blue background I was really impressed......

I very rarely use a white, usually find it too stark, or a solid colour background my go to is a light blender. That being said I have started a stitchery project just recently where I am using a light tan solid and I am loving it!
