I've sold several sewing machines on cl. It's a free ad, so can't hurt. Do be aware of the scam artists who try to buy it sight unseen through an agent.
Thanks! Will check out longarmuniversity.com. The other link didn't work for me.

It's a good service but, as with anything these days, be careful!
I have heard of this kind of scam before. It's so weird to me-sending to a foreign country???

I wouldn't respond by email unless you have a great spamming filter.
When I sell, I say in the ad that I will not respond by email.
If you start the emailing games, many times you're wasting time & open to spam.
Request the party text or call you.
If you want to be more private - even with your phone number, get a Google voice # for doing CL.
Of course, don't fall for any offers to send you money and you ship it.
    Cash cash cash
First come, first serve - holding stuff usually doesn't work.
Notsomuch for a longarm, but keep in mind the prices you see listed on CL for competing products are items that have *not* sold. At least here, good deals fly off of CL.
It's no different than the old classifieds in newspapers. 99.99% of people are good - no reasons to be paranoid... just be common-sense safe.

I have an iPad up on CL here right now - and I've had zero interest. But, it's an expensive one - and someone shopping CL tends to be someone that is trying to get something at a deal, of course.

I'd also list it in sewitsforsale (a Yahoo group) .

    HTH
Thanks for all the great advice! Will check out sewitsforsale, too.

OH MY GOSH, that is soooooo scary!!! My strongest fear for selling on-line.

I have sold a sewing machine, embroidery machine and my first serger all on CL. You have been given excellent advice in previous postings. Most important cash only and only have someone come to your home if you are not home alone. And don't consider it sold unless you have cash in hand. Also, repost every few days if it doesn't sell immediately. Good luck!

I've had a lot of luck buying things from craigslist. This cherry bedroom set is one example. I paid $300 for it and it's replacing a maple set we had in our house that was wrecked by hurricane Sandy.

I'm looking for a machine and had never thought to check CL. That's a good idea.
