I just cut out a snowflake, and some mittens today. I love these scissors. I went to check the brand name when I saw this post, and ....it does not have one. I wonder if I could find out.

If you are cutting while the "block is in the frame on my machine" are you using an Embroidery Machine to do your applique? If so, then I would suggest a couple of sizes of scissors. I use the duckbill type to cut the larger areas of applique away from the cut line, and then use a couple of smaller types to get close to the stitching before the satin stitches stitch out. I use several different types depending on what size area I need to trim.
If you are not doing this with an Embroidery Machine, Sorry for the misunderstanding. But I will say that several sizes of small scissors are useful in a lot of applications.

I use my curved scissors that I got with my Janome embroidery machine. If you are doing machine embroidery, you can remove the hoop to trim your applique then reattach your hoop after!

I agree about the Karen Kay Buckley scissors. I'm working on a horses head(bust), with lots of tiny pieces and they work great!

I use a small pair of the curved scissors. They are super sharp at the tip. Mine are similar to the pair in the blue box, but as you can see, there are many fine pairs of scissors out there.

I cut McKennaRyan patterns out for hours at a time and prefer my 5 inch blade Ginghers.

My favorite are the KAI 5 inch double curve embroidery scissors. The are extremely lightweight and easy to use; much easier on the hands when I'm doing machine appliqué. Also they are the sharpest scissors I have tried and seem to stay sharp over time.
