Are we talking to make ourselves or that we admire? I greatly admire the Double Wedding Ring but have never made one. Anything with stars take my eye, too. My "go to" is the 9 patch. Quick and easy and can be done so many ways: traditional, traditional with sashing, traditional but set on-point, Friendship Star, Irish Chain. I'm told that it was also my mother's favorite. It's attractive, versatile and easy.

I really like the Grandmother's Fan. It can be embellished for a really rich look, although probably not particularly laundry-worthy. (Love crazy quilts)
My mother made Trip around the World quilts, for everyone in the family. At the time I didn't appreciate the amount of work that went into them. She stitched by hand, and this was the days before rotary cutters, so I guess each square was cut and sewn individually? She had a lot more patience than I have.
