Be sure your bobbins fit the sidewinder. A friend gave me hers but the Viking Rose bobbins don't fit so I gave it back to her.

I like the Sidewinder. It has kept the grands busy as bees in my sewing room. LOL It has come in handy many times. The cutter isn't accurate for quilting but great for cutting strips to use to wrap cotton line, crochet, knit or weaving.

I like my sidewinder. Wish it were a bit heavier so I didn't have to hold it down. I got mine at Joannes for about $15.00 with a coupon. Don't know about the cutter. Seems like a good deal if the cutter is worth anything.

Amazon gives it 3 1/2 stars, so not too bad. Their price is $62.00 for just the cutter. So you are really getting a good deal. I would buy the set, if I did't already have a sidewinder.

The side winder is much more useful than the cutting machine.

I have the cutting machine (received it as a gift). I'm very picky about my cutting, and I had a hard time keeping the edge of the fabric lined up against the guard accurately enough to cut to my liking. I used it once to cut binding strips; I set it up for 2 1/2" inch strips, and they ended up varying from 2 3/8" to 2 5/8". I might get better with practice, but haven't bothered getting it out since.

If you have trouble with manual rotary cutting (arthritis, etc.), then it might be worthwhile. For me, it isn't worth fiddling around trying to get good at using it.

$20 for both is a good deal; I would get it if I were you. I would think of it as buying the bobbin winder, and getting the cutting machine as a bonus, so no loss if you don't like it. Worst case scenario, you can always sell or donate it.

    *** Thanks for the input.

*** Went back and bought both. She had no other inquirers.

*** She offered both to me for $5. each - total of $10.

*** The Sidewinder does a good job but haven't tried the Cutter yet.
