Those sure are not the Bi-Centennial colors. Have fun with your project and show us pictures.

I had sunflower wallpaper in the 70's: big print, brown, yellow, chartreuse, a bit of orange. Perhaps you could go with a tie-dyed fabric with those colors. I've seen fabric, possibly at Joann's next to their batiks, that would work very well. It has some pink and blue in it as well but you could just use the orange, yellow and chartreuse colors. Good luck; once you find the right fabric, you'll be set. I too recall only the 60's as I was raising two little ones, during the 70's, working full time and going to college at night. How did we do it?

Are you sure she is not talking about the flower power of the 60/70's - I was in college beginning of 70's - it was still the land of the hippies - at least in the New York City area.

I think it needs like a small 4-patch border around it using the fabric she send you and maybe an avocado green or gold as the other patch.

    Good Luck
I remember all that stuff too. I graduated in '59 and was having babies in the 60s. My oldest son graduated in '79 so I remember the bell bottoms, Beatles haircuts, etc. I don't remember anything about sunflowers or anything that would remotely connect sunflowers & 70's together. Definitely tie dye and all those bright colors.

4-D images - avacado - harvest gold - microwave's were brand new then(had to take a class to learn to use them). Hippies, no bra's, bell bottoms, and disco! That's all I can remember, I was raising kids too.

Oh gosh....that is a tough one and more so after I saw the pic! I don't remember the sunflowers at all...I do remember that big petaled flower though. The fabrics she sent look about right. I would most definetly clarify with the owner exactly what she meant by "70's look. You know people can have all kinds of thoughts in their head.

Here is a thought though..Can you applique? I might just take a lot of those fabrics that she sent and applique some vines/stems, then in place of the flower heads do some fun circles of those fabs she sent and alternate with some peace signs as the flower heads on some of them.

Would you consider asking the mother of the graduate what she means?
