I would try your idea on a small scale first... maybe a doll quilt? to see if it would work out the way you are wanting it too :D:D:D

Just a question for experimental purposes, how about good ol' fabric glue or fusible? Maybe just sew if any happen to fall off and not have to stitch them all together or would it not work?

get a yo-yo maker to start with - i got mine from sewing with nancy. but i can't imagine how long it would take to make enough yo-yos to cover a bed. all the ones i've seen were tacked together individually and had a solid sheet or something underneath. you can see on my avatar how few i appliqued on a quilt and i thought i'd never get finished. good luck

I got all the sizes and just recently got the jumbo one, tho' I haven't used it yet. I sit watching TV and make them. Slowly but surely I'll eventually have enough for some kind of project.

One of the quilting magazines (can't remember if it's McCalls)has a YOYO quilt pattern on the front cover this month. Make 409 YOYOs. Cut strips 3 1/2" by the width making 38 total strips.......... I have the 409 yoyos made and am stitching them to the strips by hand per the instructions. May take a few weeks to get it finish and once I do, I will post it to photos on the quiltingboard. I will check at home tonight and send an update.

I found the magazine for the YOYO Quilt. It's Better Homes and Gardens Quilting Magazine from this month. It calls for 409 YOYOs. Instead of the colored top one on the front of the cover, I got black. In the article it says that black will show off the YOYOs better. I am hand sewing each YOYO in place per the instructions with basting stitches. I suppose you could use your sewing machine. I do the stitching while watching TV with hubby. I'll send picture at some point. This weekend being Easter we are going to visit our daughter and son-n-law. Actually I will probably take the project with me and work on it while we are there and maybe get my daughter to help. Going to Florida May 3-11 and may take it with me and work on it while we are relaxing at our friends home.
