Missi, with all of your experience in handling these wonderful swaps what size/type envelope is best for you to work with? I noticed quite a variety on your floor.

Hip hip horray for Missi

    Thank you so much. :D

Good question. I laid the envelopes in set order. So on the 1st picture those envelopes in the top left are 15 sets and the ones by my feet at the basement door were the 2, and 5 set swappers. My little helper did mix up a few envelopes and I had a 15 sets envelope down in the 10 row and had to do some re figuring when I got down there.

I fit 15 sets into a 8.5 x 5.5 envelope and let me tell you it wasn't easy. Each person packages their sets very differently which you will see when you get your envelope. If a person had me returning 15 sets in one of those little envelopes I pulled sets from the people who packed their squares flat or in super small baggies.

An envelope that fits an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper works perfect. The hard flat, flat rate envelopes work if you make it and then the big flat rate sacks are huge but do work.

Sew, in cleaning up and re organizing my fabrics this month I realize I still have more than 50 different fabrics which I could use for another swap!

When are you up to it again, Missi, should be the question. ASAYAR (meaning As Soon Ss You Are Rested), you should start another one.

So far I have not used my squares from the first swap I was in so with the new ones coming I will have about 1250+. I plan to sort them into color categories, seasons, etc. and then make my plans for projects. Ready to go when you are!!!! :-D

PS: can't think of the right name but what about maybe making a portion of the squares 'specialty cuts' with an object in the center? Just an idea.

I would like to do the next one also1 I am saving mine up for a project. there is a pattern using these in the quiltmaker 100 block magazine vol 1 that I plan to use, this maybe an ongoing project when I have a few minutes to sew a few together at a time!

Star - Bonnie Hunter has a book leaders and enders. She suggests always keeping a pile next to the machine and when you sewing start with a set and end with a set. I keep a pile and when I have upwards to a dozen I press. I know have a shoe box full of 1.5 inch squares and a handful of two patches. Someday I will have a large stack of four patches witch I will make then sew together. Make sense. I love her book it has a lot of adaptable patters for these little gems as I call them.

    Fun sewing!
