Peg, you & I are in the same boat on that 20 lbs, ugh. Was advised by doc that slow and steady does best so that it stays off. Such pretty clothes waiting in my closet. Now cooking for one should help me some until hubby comes home alternate weekends from the base. He prefers home cooked to dining out. After 30+ years of all the home cooking he weights the same as when we married which totally annoys me because I'm writing my third cookbook as requested by many family members. Guess I'll have to stop Test Tasting! Peg, you can do this. Let's try!

WebMD has a newsletter you can subscribe to that I have found really helpful. They offer many newsletter subscriptions but the one I'm talking about is called "Weight Loss Wisdom". They will send you a lot of food info, myth-busting, tips, helps, and exercise info. It's very good and very inspiring. Just go to WebMD's site and look for the Weight Loss Wisdom newsletter. It's a help.

Thanks Sewbizgirl! I have my annual (although it's been a few years) physical next week.....so I guess I'd better get on the stick! At least I can be a little bit ahead of the game if I try WebMD. Thanks! Nora

    Hello ladies
Busy week around here. Really hot so not much gardening. I have been off my nanny job for 2 weeks so I been catching up on a lot of things. And getting some quilting done. (Yeah)
Also finding the "row by row" patterns. My mom went to Alaska this year for vacation and brought me back kids and patterns. Then my sister went to Hawaii for work (tough job) and rumor has it she picked up some patterns and a kit. I am learning to do appliqué . seems like most of the kits are appliqué.

thanks everyone for checking in...looks like the goodies are coming in for Travelingramma. Remember if EVERYONE has their package received by her birthday I will have 2 prizes to give away.

    okay...now on the sad side.

My brother (husband's brother) Mark was diagnosed with ALS 3 years ago. He is at the end stages of this terrible disease. He is expecting to not last through the next few days. My husband is going out to Wisconsin to be there with him. I plan on going out for the funeral (probably at the end of the week). So just in case I am not on the board for this week that is why. It has been terrible to watch this larger then life man (well just his personality) deteriorate to just a shell. He has a girl friend of 10 years (2 x wives..that is why they aren't married) and 4 kids that he will leave behind. Also 2 brothers and 2 sisters and his parents. For me it has been harder to watch how the family has dealt with this tragedy (really not at all) and I know I am judging so I have decide (after all I'm just an inlaw ...not my words) to stay back until the "celebration of life". I know everyone deals with losing someone in their own way.) Sorry for the vent.

Hope you all have a nice week. I know that you will all have me in your thoughts during this really sad time.

    Barb

You are so wise to wait, Barb. Hubby is only child & his work kept him gone 80% so I took care of his folks then my mother years later. I did the best I could to make their quality of life happy & secure. The general attitude of some family members (on both sides) is very saddening. I forgive them because they missed running dad's wheelchair through the pasture while he held his only grandchild & a kite, we laughed until we cried it was so much fun! Mom liked to go to town on Fridays to have her hair done & lunch at the downtown diner, she was known all over town as the funny granny because she could peg an issue immediately with humor. Yup, they missed the good stuff. Maybe that's why they are so negative when the times comes to say goodbye until we meet again. Sorry, didn't mean to vent! So sad to say goodbye when children are involved. Praying for your family.
    hugs,
