Yes, I would say so. I really liked the dividers in them.

Well, we Broncos did not win the prize but the community sure is proud of our team and coach. A 13 and 0 season is nothing but spectacular and I am proud to say that most of the team made academic honors too. These big dudes play football well, but their coaches make sure they are at WMU for their education and not just sport.

Congrats that they made it that far, WMUTeach! How exciting for you.

I stumbled across another new to me quilt pattern to help use up some of our candies...but it involves Paper Piecing. I am sure it could be done without paper piecing but I love paper piecing (especially for flying geese) so I'm sticking with it as it is. It's Bonnie Hunter's Wild and Goosey pattern and each block uses 13 squares. Can you say Stash Buster ?

    Links
    Quilt: http://www.quiltmaker.com/articles/Wild___Goosey
    Block pattern: http://www.quiltmaker.com/content_do...WildGoosey.pdf

Each block is sized at 3.5" unfinished. To make my blocks I have been using already cut up scraps in the following sizes: 1.5" squares for the flying geese sky (Parts 2,3,5,6,8,9) , 2" squares for the flying geese (Parts 1,4,7), 2.5" squares for one set of setting triangles (Parts 10,11) and I think 3" squares for the other set of setting triangles (Parts 12, 13). I cannot remember exactly - I made my first 20 blocks way back on Friday . If you are new to paper piecing I HIGHLY recommend using larger squares to begin with so you have more wiggle room.

    Other options:
-You could use 2.5" squares for the flying geese sky but would result in a bit more fabric waste
-You could enlargen the block pattern to better accommodate 2.5" squares without as much fabric waste

The original quilt pattern uses sashing in between the flying geese blocks. I have not yet decided if I am going that route. Thought I'd just make up a bunch of the blocks and wing it from there. I was having a hard time being REALLY scrappy so I literally wrote the name of each color of fabric in my scrap stash on a piece of paper and tossed them in a baggie. I pulled a color out of the baggie, grabbed a square in that color and sewed away.

I am making my blocks in batches in order to help prevent boredom.

Thanks Sewbizgirl.....I love those boxes. I have seen them at IKEA...the candy light did not go on. But it did now!!!

One of the boxes is PERFECT for 'candy' storage. It has 12 divided compartments that are 3" square, so you can put your stacks of candies in them easily. They are huge and deep and hold a ton. And... get this... the price: $3.99!

I am in the process of switching my candies over to these storage boxes now, which is a little slow going because I had them stacked by color and they've gotten a bit mixed up over the years. The boxes are called "Tjena", and their catalog number is 602.636.06, in case you want to order some from IKEA.

Thanks Imanna, I also am addicted to paper piecing! I snagged what I could get off the Quiltmaker website -- unfortunately I had let my subscription lapse, but there's enough info on that web page that I would not really need the detailed instructions. I have plenty of scraps, along with candies now!
