I am doing the QAL and I am using single color blocks in a leader/ending method.
I have a question (naturally) Are we to finish all the blocks we need (mine would be 15) by next Friday?

You can work at your own pace. The next instruction will be given next Friday, but if you aren't ready to move on, just keep working on your 16 patches. As Barb mentioned, make note of the post number(s) for the instructional steps and then you can get back to them when ready.

No pressure to keep up with the steps! Just have fun....

WMUTeach, what size are you making? You only need 15 of the 16-patch blocks for the throw size. It's fine if you are improvising your own bigger size, I just wanted to make sure you were aware you don't need 20 if you are doing the throw size.

I enjoying seeing everyone's finishes and WIP. I have been too busy at work to comment on the board. But I have been lurking.

QAL = Oh yes, I plan to start this project. This has been one of the projects on my bucket list for several years. I plan to make a king size, but I will wait and see how large it will actually be. I plan to use the random blocks. I just need to decide on my background fabric. I'm undecided if I want to use only one fabric or different fat quarters, of close colors.

How many weeks do you think we will be working on this QAL? 4-6 week?

Four weeks. It's not complicated, just takes a little time to put all the blocks together. From what I understand we will have time between QALs to get caught up and finished if we fall behind or want to make the project a lot bigger.

Change of plans! I'm still doing the QAL, but now I am doing the baby size. I am going to *try* to do an ombré effect using green to teal to blue. I was going to do a full rainbow, and following the classic ROYGBIV I realize that I own very little red fabric. Like two fat quarters and a half yard little. The aforementioned colors I have in spades. I hope you future birthday girls like cool colors, you will be getting a lot of them from me now, hah!

I am trying to decide the same thing. I'm not sure if I want to cut into my awesome new white Blueberry Park yardage or scrap it up with assorted low volumes. I need to stop saving awesome fabric for the "perfect" project, though, it will be my demise. I just wish the rotary cutter didn't cut into my soul whenever I slice my most coveted. It's sew hard!

    Oooh, pretty sunflowers Jaba!

Leesewzany, I think we all have that struggle. I've determined to use stash up and I still struggle with not keeping it! BUT... one thing we know: There will always be more pretty fabrics in our future.

I'm doing another quilt with my candies plus a background fabric. It's 9 patches and snowballs. I thought it was awful until I got it put together and sandwiched. Now I think I'm going to love it! It's so much fun to look at that many different fabrics in one quilt. You get to preserve a little piece of quilting memory with each square. Like an album of your favorites... they are all our favorites, arent they? :P
