For 2 stamps I can put in my mailbox. I don't leave the house much and I can weigh my pkgs and know that they will go with my mailman and not worry about them winding up with postage due. And I also verified that my home scale is set the same at the post office's scale.

And I was incorrect in stating 54 cents for a stamp, it's 55 cents. If you are stocked up on Forever stamps you probably paid 50 cents or less for them.

I took mine to the PO today and sent it off. Since I was up there, I bought 20 70cent stamps so I'll be good to go for a while.

I had bought cards at the dollar store, and turns out the are a bit smaller so I could not get my candies to lay flat, and with them overlapped the package was too thick. So I bought an envelope at the PO and repacked and got them sent off. Then I went to Walmart and bought a pack of greeting card envelopes that were the correct size.

Armylady - I noticed you have your candies overlapping - will the PO take them that way? Mine would not as that caused the package to be too thick (It did not fit through the slot on her template). If I had left it like that, it was going to be over $3 to ship as it was considered a package. That is why I got larger envelops so that I can lay my candies side by side with no overlap. That way it fit through the slot and only cost 70 cents to mail.

I bought the "2 for $1" cards at the dollar store. They are smaller than standard cards.

I think I paid around $5 for a pack of 50 full size greeting card envelopes at Walmart. It's big enough to lay three rows of candies side by side with no overlap.

The PO also sells the correct size envelope for 49cents. Since I was there, DH grabbed one of those and I unwrapped my candies, layed them flat and rewrapped, then tucked them into the card and into the new envelope. Much better than taking it all home to fix.

I'm not worried about paying more for shipping, but then I want to be sending more - not paying more because I didn't pack the cheapest way. It's just bad that if it gets thick it's considered a "package" and then costs a lot more to send.
