Gorgeous, Jane Quilter! I have hope if you made this from one birthday! Being my first birthday swap I was wondering how much I would need to do a quilt.

Here’s a Fading Charms Quilt top that I finished a while back. It uses nearly 850 candy squares and finishes at 72 1/2 inches square. It was a lot of fun and I used my entire supply of Turkey reds for the sashings. I’ve seen it in lots of other colors, too. Now to just get it quilted!

This quilt had 20 charms around each of the 30 blocks, and 10 charms in each of the 20 flowers, using a minimum of 800 charms or a birthday swap of 16 participants. I could have used more to bind the edge, in cornerstones, as leaves, or on the backing. But this gives you an idea. There was some waste because I had to pick over to get all green squares to make a flower. But the charms around the blocks are all from the same person, there was no crossovers, I wanted each block to be a memory of a particular swapper. Just as each block was a memory of a family event. If you want to read more details about this quilt with closeup pictures of the blocks and the names of the swappers per block, go to my thread "I won "Best in Show" " on this quilting board at I won "Best in Show"

An Arkansas crossroads is one of my favorites for 2 1/2 squares. Here is a link to Lori Holts tutorial with one where she uses an amazing blue to set off her candies.

Here is my photo submission using my 2.5 squares. It was made from my pile of 2.5 cuts from my first two years of being part of the Birthday Swap. We had a huge old snow storm here in Michigan and I sat for days using my little cuts. It was at that time that I became quite addicted to using these fantastic little pieces of colorful fabric and have made many, many quilts with 2.5's.

Pattern is called "Fading Charms" and is from Weddingdressblue https://weddingdressblue.wordpress.com/2012/03/23/tutorial-fading-charms-quilt/

Well, I just saw that someone else also posted a version of the Fading Charms pattern, so I will try again. Want to give us lots of new ideas! This is a pattern of my own creation. I was on a rant trying to use up All of my 2.5 squares. Made a serious dent into the pile of little squares but then my birthday happened again and Ta-Da, my stash was revitalized!
