Yes, give the "Plaiidish" quilt a try. It is an amazingly beautiful work in the end. I haven't made it, yet, but two of my quilting group buddies have and their quilts were brilliant.

Oh, goodness I forgot to get this little feller up for the start of the day. In my neck of the woods, the mitten state, it is sunny and bright. But we are waiting for below zero temp tonight and lake effect snow tomorrow. So, along with Phil, we will be having 6 more weeks of winter which is just about right any way.

Happy Ground Hog Day! Raise a mug of hot cocoa or a bowl of soup and celebrate.

Oh, my goodness, that Plaid-ish pattern is really nice! I downloaded it, too.

I’m another scrap addict, for sure. It’s funny, but my two favorite patterns are One Block Wonder, where you use a WHOLE lot of ONE fabric, and then…anything totally scrappy with as many different fabrics as possible!

I really partial to string quilts, as well. The piles of random ribbons of fabric I have lurking in various boxes, baskets, and drawers is truly humbling. I have fabric for strings quilts ‘til the end of time, should I desire!

So what is it with the groundhog? If he sees his shadow we get 6 more weeks of winter, or is it the other way around?

Yes, if the "hog" sees his shadow it means more winter days. "It is derived from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrows on this day and sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early." (Google)

Yup, it does seem backward to me too. As a little kid in school, we were told the "hog" would see his shadow and be frightened and go back to hide in his burrow. Around here in the mid-west, shadow or clouds on February 2 there are still 6 more weeks of winter! I trust a weather forecaster more than a large, lumbering, furry rodent. Tee-Hee-Hee!

"Phil has an accuracy rate of 46 percent nationwide. Looking at his last 50 predictions, Phil has predicted winter more often than not - 36 times, or approximately three out of four predictions. Nationwide, he has only been right 23 of those times, giving him a 46 percent accuracy rate."

About the same as the weatherman forecasting more than ten days out. LOL!

That's what I've always heard so I'm never confused on the prediction. Personally, I don't think Phil sees his shadow from the sun. He is scared of his shadow created by all the flash cameras. Have you ever seen a video of the event? I'd want to go back into my burrow too.

I have officially mailed the first 2023 BDay Candies!!! I may not be quilting right now but finally I got to focus on something related to quilting! This beginning of the school semester has been tough on me. Plenty of time for the post office to lose it and find it before Janice's bday. Happy Birthday ahead of time, Janice!
