    Default Criss-Cross Star Block

I found an interesting YouTube video tutorial today for a scrappy block designed by Lori Holt of Bee In My Bonnet Company. It's called Criss-Cross Star.

9" Block (directions beginning at minute 7:37 of the video):

    8 - (3.5") background squares
    1 - (3.5") center square
    8 - (2.5") star points

I could not open the link you posted, JENNR8R, but here is another link to the same video that I found. The 9" star block does indeed begin at 7:37 in the video. I like her videos a lot because she often shows more than one size of a given block. Thanks for giving us another new way to use our birthday candies. Makes me want to dash to my sewing room to make a criss-cross star block right now!

Here's a fun quilt - 1664 squares -- 16 x 13 blocks of 8 sashed with gray. Love it! Linda M made it with 1.5" squares so she made it postage stamp size. I really like how the gray lets your eyes rest.... Source: https://groups.io/g/stashbusters/pho...ame,,,20,1,0,0

The cross-cross stars really spoke to me. Thanks, JENNR8R for finding it and thanks WMUTeach for the additional link. It’s funny. I’ve made about 80 quilts or so, from simple to a few that involve precise cutting and piecing, but I always doubt myself and my abilities and find myself drawn to projects like this where tips being chopped off due to lack of perfection aren’t really an issue. It just makes piecing more enjoyable for me in general, though I will sometimes take on more of a challenge. The point of these candies is to have FUN, right?

Anyway, I quickly sketched down how to construct this block and might throw together a few. I’m still working my way through my birthday packets. Back to school has been incredibly stressful this year, so a few bright fabrics and kind notes have been very welcome in the evenings!

Ibex94 and JENNR8R (with an assist from WMUTeach) thank you for the “new to me” patterns. I have so many squares that are sitting unused while I work other projects. The 8 patch quilt would be perfect as a leader and ender project. And it’s perfect with the grey sashing.

I saw this a few minutes ago on the Scrap Quilt Enthusiasts site, made by Beverly Spence. No pattern but it is just so us! The maker said she used 2.5 and 2" squares. Bet we could do this. The on point setting make it unique.

This looks easy and that on point setting really makes the top.
