April - Boom 18

I wanted to be called BonBon, because my name is Bonnie... but it just doesn't seem like the right grandma name.
One of my friends has her gks call her Lolly, and their grandfather is Pop... Lolly and Pop... lollipop. I'm so ready to be a grandmother-- can you tell?-- but... nothing is in the oven yet. ANY of the ovens!

"I have just finished my last two. What will I do now? I guess I'll go through the bags and see if I can make any bonus blocks... Libster, do you need any? I seem to have two good sized pieces of your fabric left, if not three."
Sewbiz, I love my block! I would never turn down an extra one. That's what I did in the last Boom when I had enough fabric left for someone. I know that sinking feeling when you finish that last one. That's when I pull out my spiral bound notebooks. I have four of them now. When I see a block that I like, I draw it out and write the cutting directions for later Booms. They are my go-to for favorite blocks now.
As for the grandmother name, that is exactly where my Board name came from: Libster. It's what my oldest grandson started calling me and all the others have called me that too. My nickname is Libby, and that was his spin on it. Gotta' love all my grands!
Now, start haunting "block images" and preparing for Boom 19! Now is the time to gather your next set of patterns and choosing fabric.

My mom had a dog named Brandy and the kids use to call her Grandma Brandy. She didn't think that sounded good so the kids called her Grandma Grandy. Thought that was pretty funny. The kids pretty much call me grams but I'm fine with anything but "granny" that makes me feel ancient.

We called our Gma's grandma, but our Gpa's got alternatives. One was poppy, the other was grumps. Later when I married my hubby called my Gma who raised me granny, as a term of endearment / inside joke type thing, which she was in on and loved, but he was the only one allowed to call her granny.
