Well said Lori. I appreciate everything I do receive but for those who do and get "shorted" in some sense its not right.

I got a wonderful package from StarShine! I have misplaced my darn camera, so if I find it before I leave on Sat I will post a picture! She got me a wonderful triangle ruler that I actually talked myself out of last weekend. Some yummy chocolate and some sour gummies (might share those with my nephew). Some great orange fabric that is going to work well with a quilt top I am finishing. Thank again StarShine everything was great!

Many thanks to Lori for the post on quality of packages. Also a huge thank you to her for taking care of all these issues. It has got to be a huge headache for her and apparently I've added to her problems.

I have now decided to bow out.

Not because I don't love the swap and the folks in it.

It is because I live in a tiny cottage and in much of the year I use a wood burning fireplace to heat it.

I also have a son and husband who all too often burn food.

Apparently, despite sending items that are brand new from the store and immediately placed into mailers the combination of scents is interpreted as cigarette smoke by some.

And, despite listing allergens in the sign up sheet, I am still paired with people who have allergies.

So I have decided that I am not going to change I heat my home nor will I ban son and husband from the kitchen.

Nor will I ban use of our firepit and barbeque in summer when the windows are open.

To those of you who had an issue with one of my packages, please PM me. I will send you monetary reimbursement for your troubles.

    Default April Secret Pal

WHERE HAS THIS MONTH GONE???? Finally had a chance to sit at computer for more than just a few minutes and first on my list of things to do was to thank Roseirish48 again for her wonderful pkg. That lady sure knows how to stuff a box!!! I felt like a young girl going thru my Easter basket, and I thank you for all the happy memories that brought to mind. My furbabies LOVED the homemade dog biscuts, and I would love the recipe (though I doubt I'd have the patience to make them look as good as your daughter did). I had a great time eating/drinking my way through all the goodies Rose sent. The "office supplies" were a great idea, and all the clips have been put to good use holding pattern pieces together -- why hadn't I thought of that before??? Her selection of goodies showed me she put a lot of thought and personal care in selecting them. I'm flattered and VERY appreciative (said while my teeth are stuck together with my favorite cherry Twizzlers). Hopefully these pictures will post so y'all can be properly envious:

WOW, I am amazed at all of the thought that goes into these packages....We are so generous to other quilters. It is sad when someone gets a bad box. That is so sad. This is my first time doing the swap. I have not yet received my box. but from the pics that I have seen from others the anticipation is ever growing. Krystana I am sorry to hear that you are bowing out of the swap, it is sad to see you go. Please stay.

regarding regifting, i truly believe that we need to accept that there are varying opinions on this and that everyone is entitled to their opinion and should not try to force that opinion on anyone else. besides, after we receive something it is ours to do with as we please and the giver should have no more say over that. that is my opinion and how i operate in my home.

for example i gave handmade potholders along with cookbooks to my family for christmas and i made my older brother's potholders and cookbook especially for him since he has eating restrictions. everyone raved over these gifts and loved them so. several months later my brother told me that he gave his potholders to his girlfriend who promptly hung them in her kitchen. mind you she was at our celebration so she got her own set. at first i expressed surprise that he would give away something that i made for him but he explained that he wouldnt use them (and did i really want them to sit unused) and he is at her home quite often. maybe that was some bonding moment between the two of them and i knew i should not intrude in it. he said he was enjoying immensly (sp?) the quilt i made for him 2 years earlier though and it wasnt going anywhere. i realized that i had no say over what he does with his things whether i made them or bought them. we are both adults and i know that i wouldnt allow him to tell me what to do with my things.
