So any delays are MY fault, not the fault of uncaring secet pals!!! Everything is back under control now and packages are flying all over! This month I will have help doing it like I always have had before. So Very Sorry for the delays, everyone who is still on the bench. Lori
I think we all appreciate every thing that Lori does. It is a monumental job making sure everyone is accounted for. I for one don't know how she keeps it straight as well as she does. Most of us would not even attempt it. Lori you are the Bomb!!!!!!

Most of us have very large stashes that are easily shared. As I near a milestone birthday in May, I have to wonder if I could ever possibly sew through everything I own. Do take a few moments to go back over the posts this month and you will see a lot of ways that you can get quite a bit for very little. Be creative! Add something homemade like most of us do.
I don't shop! I have enough in this house since I closed the business to keep swaps going for years! However, in today's market a pattern is $9-$10 now and most FQ's in shops are up to $3.50! NOT going to buy those myself, but some might have to! My whole point was "WHO" feels slighted if everyone is sending is way beyond the $10 gift items? I guess I just don't understand the slighted part! I don't tend to send a big box full of magazine pages, candy, etc, but I do pick nice items geared to the person I am sending to!

the flat rate envelopes for canada are $12.95 (i double-checked the website). i have used the legal sized envelope and stuff it up to the 4 pound max limit. there is no delivery confirmation for international shipping so you just pay the flat rate envelope shipping cost for international shipping which is the cheapest way.

you can purchase a "certificate of mailing" though and it counts like a receipt.
I was also told that the padded envelopes are no longer the Flat rate price, that they will go by weight now! Also if under 4 pounds First class is cheaper!

on usps.com website the padded flate rate envelopes are still a flat rate price. maybe they have not changed it to "by weight" yet. they give you a receipt when you mail an international package which is your receipt of mailing. the postal service cannot track an international package once it leaves U.S. soil so you cannot purchase tracking.

first class mail is only up to 13 ounces so i am not sure what kinda swap package would be under 13 ounces unless one sends a gift card instead of items.

just a word about packages that smell of cigarette smoke...I had a postal carrier that smoked and YES, they are allowed to smoke in their trucks! I deal in ultrasuede and quite often I would get a box or envelope that just wreaked...finally one day I saw this postal person sitting at the corner of my street, smoking away with MY package sitting right next to her....sure enough it was horrid inside and out...I took it to the post master...I have a NEW carrier now...but they are still allowed to smoke in their vehicles..how sad is that? Just a thought...it might not be your swap pal that smokes!
