Step 2: Using the templet cut your 90 Dresden blades or place each candy on your cutting mat, squarely on a 2.5” measurement. Find the ½” center section of your candy piece. Mark 1/8” to the right And to the left of this ½” center. Cut both sides of the blade from the top corner to this 1/8” mark. Fold right sides together at the widest end of your blade. Sew ¼” seam from the fold to the end, chain piecing all 90 blades. Clip the tip top at the fold just away from the stitching. Turn the right side out and finger press your seam open.
Center the seam and press pointed top of your blade using something to get a nice point on it’s top. Sew two blades together. Make nine piles of 5 two’s. I did this, so I didn’t accidentally sew to many blades together. Each plate will have Ten blades each or 5 sets of 2’s.

Step 3: Create your center and your leaves.
Option 1- Using the templet draw circles on 9 of your candies you’ve selected for your Dresden Plate centers. Sew your circle using ¼” seam with the right side down onto a Pellon candy piece. Cut a tiny slit in the pellon and turn your circle right side out. Press into your circle applique piece.
Option 2- Cut 9 small circles of freezer paper. Press these to your Center circles of candy. Press the seam allowance into the middle, creating your applique piece.
Option 3- Create a yoyo from your center candy pieces.
Create your leaves in the same manor if you choose to add leaves.

Step 5: Sandwich your wall hanging or mug rug quilt as desired.
Add your plate centers, appliquéing by hand or by machine as desired.
Bind using your favorite method. I'm hoping a few tutorial links I found on quilt binding will post.
Don't forget to add corner pockets on your wall hanging to make it easier to hang. I cut two 5" squares, fold them in half, press, sew onto your quilt when you sew on the binging. You can see them in the last picture. I insert a ruler into the pockets and set this on my pin or nail for hanging. (I hope that's clear.)
