You can mix your colors anyway you want. Just no two fabrics that are alike in the same row of 3.

Hello Ladies hope everyone is on the mend and those who have not been sick hope that you all are good. It sounds like some of you are getting ready to have fun doing the mystery quilt. I will keep an eye on the thread to see what you all are doing with this.

I've been cutting 2 1/2" strips for the 9 Patch swap I joined, so I can cut off some candies from what I have left over there. And I still have some scraps out from the last 9P swap, so I can cut some candies from that. They are not particularly medium or dark fabrics though.

Is the value of dark needful for the mystery?

I'm not Barb, but I would guess they will need to contrast well with your lights. Guessing because she specified darks/mediums they will contrast with lights.

Well. You are probably right. When dark is specified, it's probably for contrast... if the piece that needs to contrast to it is scrappy throughout the quilt, then it will be a problem. But if the contrast can be constant, maybe what I have laying out will work... I can't start pulling out dark fabric to just to cut candies! I have too many things out already. :-) I'll have to think about it. I can certainly incorporate 120 threesies into something else.

Did she say lights??

I got excited to start the mystery quilt, and made 70 threesies in no time today. Even faster because we don't yet have to press seams. Hope these are what Barb meant by "darks/meds".

What a great batch of medium/dark candies! Well done, just what the doctor ordered. What's that? A tiny 2 1/2" ruler? That would be handy for cutting odd sized scraps! What brand is it? Where did you get it? I use my 4 1/2" x 14" ruler for just about everything, and sometimes it doesn't seem handy for little scraps.
