I have been gone also but unfortunately not on vacation. Mom fell and broke 3 ribs and hip about a month ago. It's been a long haul and now she will be released from transitional care Thursday. She lives 4 hours from me in the same town as my sister. We are now jumping through the insurance hoops trying to get her long term insurance to kick in and find an assisted living facility with an opening. For the time being she will go back to her apartment with help from an agency. Terriamn

So sorry to hear that Terriamn. I know about the ins. co. by working in a nursing home. Sad to see some of the
things they do to get out of paying the insurance. Ive even reported some insurance companies to the state board
of licensing!! Medicare replacement programs are the worse..esp if you have a "medicare supplement" because once you sign up for one of the replacements you technically DONT have Medicare and some ins co. wont pay the bills.
I hope your mom finds an assisted living...they really are good places for people that just need a little help and not a skilled nursing home! GOOD luck!

Im so sorry about your moms health but I am very glad you were able to take the time off to be with her and your sister. Caring for aged parents and navigating all the insurance, and government red tape for them can be a nightmare.
