Good to see we have more great quilters returning and new Boomers joining us! What beautiful blocks in those quilts. Been trying my hand at paper piecing. Bought the "Add a Quarter" inch ruler. Working great on 12 1/2 inch quilt block designs! Making a couple of sample blocks for my Boom 14 fabric.... and I don't know about you, but I just cannot get my sewing chair as close to my sewing table - after yesterday Have to shake off this desire to snuggle up to the fireplace with a quilt and a very, small, little sliver of pumpkin pie!

Note to self: "Put down the cool whip and get back in that sewing room to finish the Christmas quilt (my UFO Challenge) before AZKat has the privilege of writing my name on the "Wall of Shame"!

Kat....can I interest you in some pumpkin pie.....hehehehe!

Moon...what a wonderful Thanksgiving story! I love my Dad dearly. He passed several years ago. What a great memory you have. Thanks for sharing.

My name is Lisa (yes, another Lisa and another "moon" so it can get confusing).

My prior married name was "moon" and I often "moonlighted" for extra money by sewing in the evenings by the moonlight so I used the name "moonwork" for all my sewing/craft/creative ventures. That name has stuck even though the married portion of it didn't .

I live in Possum Trot, KY (very western edge -- just outside of Paducah). Some of you may remember me from past Booms and my helper Dad. He passed away about a 1 1/2 years ago and I just haven't sewn much since then. He had a blast with all the F8 and deciding on patterns. He was a joy and my chief "ironer" of every block and F8 that left here. It will be a real challenge to do this without him so if you see some tear stains you'll know why.

I've done Booms, a couple of the funky swaps, a few monthly swaps and have attempted to do the 50 paper pieced stars (got about 15 done is all). I like the variety the swaps offer as I get bored making the same block over and over. Dad was the prodding force for me to get the blocks made into tops. Now I just have to learn to use our longarm and some day I'll get them quilted.

I haven't decided on my fabric yet but I'll be in the slow group. I'm a confessed starch a holic so if your block comes back stiff as a board, then you know Dad was helping me spray and iron. He loved to see just how stiff he could get them, lol.

So on this day of Thanksgiving, I made up my mind to join as I am so thankful for having had the time with my Dad helping me while he lived with us. He'd tell me to get the starch out and get to cutting.

I was half dead today (tired from work) but managed to make a little progress on my moms memory ufo quilt. All the remaining blocks are now in rows. I will take the rows (3) to work w/ me tomorrow and hopefully have time to join the back squares so the last rows will be ready to add to the quilt. Still have a long way to go w/ the boarders, front and back and hand stitching them together.

Way to go Kass. Reading your post was just what I needed to get my motor running again! Love your determination. We will make it...1 step at a time! Now back to the sewing room!

Hi moon/Lisa! Good to see you again.

I've changed my mind about the batiks I'd planned to use. The brown/orange I bought online is pretty by itself, but the more I look at it, the brown/orange/green combination isn't really growing on me. Besides, I've got a bunch of batik blocks from a couple of past swaps that I've never done anything with, so I'll use those for the quilt for our teardrop camper.

Darn. That means I don't have any fabric for this Boom ... which means I have to go shopping again!

I'd made a blue and yellow quilt for myself using blocks from a previous Boom swap, but my dad saw it, and it somehow ended up going home with him. Funny how that happens! he he I just found some pretty blue floral fabric on Connecting Threads' site, on the Black Friday sale page, so I bought some of it. Hopefully they still have it in stock. I'm awaiting the order confirmation e-mail, but here's a photo. I think I want yellow added to it, but I also think lavender would be really pretty. I'll decide for sure once I see it in person. If they've sold out already, I guess I'll have to go shopping yet again! LOL!

Blue and yellow is such a pretty combo, hard to beat it.

Wow such a big turn out. I will do a two month group! I am using some childrens monkey fabric I think for this swap. I need 5 more baby quilts and this is a good way to get them done. Love the fabric but not inspired terribly by the selections for the quilt patterns. I will try to post a picture soon!
