That is exactly how I do it. Attached is a drawing with the sizes I cut each piece. First I make a 5.5 x 5.5 in. hourglass and then cut it down to 5.5 x 4 in hourglass. If you have any other questions, just ask.

Cutting down the oversized hourglass. Brilliant. Again, more out of the box thinking. THANK YOU for sharing that. I'll have to start looking at blocks differently.

Thank you for sharing! That saves me a lot of trial and error trying to figure it out. I have been eye balling this block for some time and just about 2 weeks ago it dawned on me I might be able to make it by cutting down the hour glass blocks but I had no idea what the measurements were. As for cutting blocks down I go the idea from Rhonda's tutes with the mini blocks.

i have mine in the envelope but I just can't quite part with them. I took them all out of their pkg again to make sure I didn't over look something. I think I'm having separation anxiety.

I'm trying to move on, but to what. A quilt for a graduating grandson but I don't have the fabric yet. I've been doing some hand work on a UFO that's gonna wind up as a lap quilt, I'm almost there. But I seem to be waiting for June 15th as if that is some magical date!
