ok, I have my first block done, I think it's pretty, not that I can post pics but do you wait for the owner to see their blocks or do you usually post them?

Mine came late. Then supper, then I left for bible study. Wiped out when I got home but took my F8's to bed with me. Thought maybe I'd get inspiration in the night. I thought I had a few figured out, but having the fabric in hand, well that is different!

Confession, I've never made a 12" square before. Are there things to watch for? If I blow up a 9" square will it come out right measurement wise? My anxieties are coming back.

GramE -- There are many sites that offer 12.5" blocks without having to blow up your patterns.

QuiltersCache has a terrific assortment of them, many you may find familiar. I'd caution you to use a scant 1/4" seam on the majority of their patterns. You can "google" 12.5 free quilt block patterns am daydream for hours (don't ask how I know that, lol)

Please remember the 12 is FINISHED size so the blocks you do need to measure 12.5" to allow for proper seam allowances when assembled into a finished top. I think that confuses some when they start out.

Enjoy and let your imagination go

And would strongly encourage getting a 12.5 inch square up ruler. I don't like buying a lot of unnessecary gadgets b/c I don't have enough storage space, but the two rulers I would not give up no matter what would be my 6.5 and 12.5 square up rulers.

When squaring up please do not cut off the points. I'd rather make an untrimmed block fit and quilt it out then get a perfectly squared block with no points on the triangles.
