[QUOTE=terriamn;7484965]We had way to much excitement around here last night. My oldest granddaughter attends college at Friends University in Witchita, I live in Minnesota and her mom lives in Wisconsin. We received text her school was on lockdown due to a suspected shooter on campus. Granddaughter was with friends about 3 blocks away. Her old roommate who is like family was half a block away in her dorm. I told Tyann who was so close to turn off all lights and lay behind couch or bed on inside wall. She ended up sitting in closet. Serena and friends also sat in dark texting their friends. Wanted to scream but was busy texting everyone to stay calm and not feed into the panic. Took about a hour and half till the lock down was lifted and students were told the could move around but needed to be vigilant. Guarantee you this wasn't something we expected to encounter[/QUOTE

So glad for the quick contact cell phones allow us these days!

Terriamn, It must have been terrifying! How sad and infuriating that your granddaughter, her friends and the other students, had to endure that terror. May they soon find the peace they'll need to recover.

Terri, I know you're breathing several sighs of relief right about now. So glad everything turned out alright for them. It's sad that our children have to live in such a mean world now. My childhood really was "The Good Ole' Days". Things like this were totally unheard of back then.

Terri..so sorry your girls had to go thru that. 2 years ago my kids with 3 grandkids were just driving down I70 after visiting the zoo in KC and a car full of teens drove by and started shooting at all the cars..SO lucky that no one in their car was hit.. had to replace windshield, back window and damage to the dash. A woman behind them got shot in the arm and 2-3 other cars had damage..NO idea why..they didn't tell me about it till they got back home because they knew how I would react! Could have been a LOT worse. The car was found, reported stolen..no suspects were ever caught..They refuse to go back to KC!

On a lighter note I used Billies patteren she so gracefully sent me and finished the top today. I admit I LOVE it...the black/white makes the colors stand out. I ordered some coordinating fabric for the borders...cant wait till it comes. THANK YOU so much Billie!!
