Boom 19 - Autumn

I use spray sizing (like starch found next to the starch) on everything. When I'm pressing the fabric prior to cutting, when I am assembling pieces especially if any bias edge will be handled, after block is assembled and gets it's final press and any time in between I think it needs it.

I have found I prefer starch over sizing and it’s much less expensive. I starch the entire piece of fabric I receive and the fabric that will be used in the block. As a rule I don’t starch after that. Read where it could shrink fabric in a block. No idea if that is true but scared me into not trying it.

Never thought to starch or 'size' fabric before piecing. Today I am using a charm pack of plaids that one of the ladies in our group cut, with which each of us is to make a men's charity quilt. Some of the plaids are pretty solid, but many are that awful loose weave homespun. I could have really used some starch on those pieces! I'm making half square triangles. This is one of those 'grit your teeth and get it done' quilts, LOL!
