Boom 19 - Autumn

Terriamn, THANK YOU for sharing! I think you are doing fabulous. I'm just starting to play around with some FMQ on my machine - I have a LONG way to go. Can you explain the rulers you are using to me? Do you sew around them or use them to trace designs. (Told you I'm new at all of this!)

Great quilting, Terri! Isn't it fun to quilt just a small block at a time? The joining is not bad at all... Either the narrow way or the wide sashing method as in Kass' tute. The only thing to watch is that you are lining up your vertical sashings or joining strips as you join your horizontal rows. Mark with pins and you will be fine. I think I showed that in my tute.

GramE, Thank you so much... I just got 15 yards for $51.65 (including shipping). Just built my Christmas material stash.
Anyone looking for holiday fabric, one of my locals is selling all 2016 Christmas & winter styles for $3.00 a yard!

Looked like lots of great fabric. I certainly must think of a reason to head that way, but there’s always online!

Jayne there are different rulers, the straight ones I used the Handiquilter straight ruler.. I placed the 1/4” mark on the quilting line and held it in place then ran my foot next to the ruler while moving the fabric. The feather flower was a real pain, it was a Weslee ruler and not thick enough so my foot kept jumping up on the ruler. The clam shells were also a Handiquilter and you just stitched around it. One flower I traced on paper then stitched it. The big circles were also a Weslee and loved that ruler, needle and foot fit in a groove, you move needle, ruler and fabric but went very smooth. Highly recommend that one. Meandering and loops I just do freehand and have done the meandering for years.

Beautiful blocks Terri! Using the quilt as you go method is on the top of my project list next year. The ruler work you have done is awesome, the clam shell and baptist fan are two of my favorite quilt patterns.

Thanks for the compliments. Still have lots more blocks to quilt but did buy the fabric to join the blocks together, went with the least used color, blue.
Wish I had time to work on them but going to a friends tomorrow to use her unfinished walk out basement to try and spray baste the three layers together for 10 charity quilts. Then have to finish the grand kids costumes for their school musical.

Wow.. looking through the gallery, the blocks are amazing!! Been awhile since I was in a boom and it looks like you guys have really stepped it up a notch ! And JayneW already has a top completed! I must say JayneW, I am fascinated by the blocks or settings you used around the swap blocks.. it so totally works to pull it all together and provide a secondary pattern to the top. What, how, did you do that??!! It looks awesome.
OK. I am eagerly awaiting the next boom, as I am pretty sure I want to join back in the fun!
