Boom 19 - Summer

Everybody in Harvey's path.. Please be safe. Just remember things can be replaced, people can not be. Get out while you have time and don't forget your animals. It breaks my heart to think of all the farm animals in Texas and their fates. God Bless the Cajan Navy.
We're being warned here about the scammers already out. Be sure you know where your money and goods are going before you donate. I bought cases of water today in prep of our church's donations.
And speaking of scams, I had a new one try today. Some woman (I will not call her a lady) called me and tried to extort money by telling me that my license for Microsoft Windows had expired and my computer would be shut down without immediate payment for a new licence. I will not repeat what I said to her. Just beware. They don't miss a beat.

Gotta love the Cajun Navy!! What great people.
No, we won't have to evacuate as far as I can see. We are way up on a hill. The way we flood is to not be able to go anywhere because the roads will be flooded below us. But that's a worst case scenario. The problem is that we have had about a solid month of rain, before Harvey. Our ground is so saturated that loads of big old trees will either uproot or just break in half if the winds start up. And we have a ton of big trees close to our house. But, God protected us and our house during Katrina, so I'm sure He will be in control again. We have some canned goods and MREs down in our basement, because Hubby is a survivalist. (Cough-cough-PARANOID- cough, cough.) We'll fill up the cars with gas tomorrow and get more water in case we do get stuck in the house for a while, but hopefully we won't.
We are concerned about our family in De Ridder, LA, not far from Lake Charles. The Cajun Navy might need to take their boats and head home to help people there.
Thanks for your prayers! So many people are needing our prayers right now.

Glad you got my blocks, Janice! Yay.
Still waiting to hear how our LA relatives are faring. The storm was supposed to be over them by midnight last night. Then it will move N/NE, over our area and then up into Memphis by Friday. We have had rain for three days now. I just expect it to increase... but hope there isn't a lot of wind. We shall see.

We've been getting the edge of the storm for a few hours. Just some pleasant rain. If only everyone had been so lucky.

pp
Good morning ladies I am attempting do learn pp what a challenge. The tutorals only adds to the confusion I made one piece to try and did ok until I looked at it closely and found the colors did not match the pattern they were in the wrong place grrrrrr I took it to work, as I work as Joanns, and they corrected me. I am determined to learn this but for now its so frustrating. I am going to give it a rest for a day or two and try again the patterns are so beautiful and want to make the squares for the boom once I get the hang of it. Patience is a virtue and right out I am not there. lol

Hang in there, Bootsy... it does take some practice to get the hang of paper piecing. It can be confusing and counter-intuitive, with everything upside down and backwards! I'd suggest you start with very simple PP and then progress to things with more pieces later. One of the first blocks I did had only 4 pieces to PP. Now I can do more, but sometimes I think I pick out more than I sew!

Bootsy this is just a suggestion but I would caution you not to PP the Boom swaps. It's very difficult to learn to do it well and you go through a lot of fabric, or at least I did. It would be different if it was your fabric but you are working with someone else's. Just a thought you might think about.
