Btw, whenever someone calls me Jan, I usually think they mean someone else. I’m Janice. Nobody has ever called me Jan. I’m sure I could be the only female in a room and not turn around if someone yelled “Hi, Jan!”. You’re more likely to get a response from a guy named Jan than from me. lol

Ahh, same thing here! I am Jana. My mother tried to call me Jan a few times when I was younger, I didn't know who she was talking too. I have a few other nicknames, but Jan isn't one of them! LOL..

Ahh, the same thing here-- I've felt particular about my name too. :-) My mother named me the very popular name at the time, Patricia, and intended to call me Pattie. When I was about 8-years-old, there was a Patty in my class that I didn't like, so I asked everyone to call me Trish. Even my mother! lol I forced it by stopping answering to Pattie (except only for my grandmother). When I was about 45-years-old, I changed it to Trisha. At work we have full names on our name tags, so they call me Patricia there as I didn't offer a nickname. I like my name-- but dislike Pattie a lot, and am annoyed by hearing Trish. :-p

My brother's name is Harvard Edgly Webber, Jr. as a child he hated his name and refused to answer to anything except Jr. As a nearly 50 year old man it has bit him in the butt, b/c now he wants to be called by his name, Harvard, but to me he is now and will always be Jr. I have given his son, H.E.W. III, a nick name of Hedge, since between my father and brother they have hogged almost all the possible nick name versions of the name.

I wasn’t trying to scold at all, Bootsy. It was just a funny story, or I thought it was. But, should I ever be lucky enough to have grands, I’m ready to be “Granny Janny”. Only my dad could get away with calling me anything other than Janice. To him, I was Janny.

Terri I have to admit I don't miss the snow. It was fine for Christmas but after that I always wanted it gone.

My family always calls me Janet, that is my given name. I never cared for the name Janet but my parents loved the name as it was the name of the ministers daughter. I was called Janet by everyone until I reached 7th grade and a teacher started calling me Jan. I loved the names of other students in my era, like Judy, Kathy, and Linda. At my high school reunion last year it was weird because half of them called me Janet and the rest Jan. I do go by Jan now and will introduce myself as such.
