You folks have more snow then we do in Minneapolis . Sunday was our largest snowfall of the season and that was only 3.5”. Today the sun has been shining and the temp is just about at 30 degrees which means all the parking lots are pure slush.

Okay I may be jumping the gun, and I'm not even officially in this group, however Givio and I swapped fabric since she had extra of the one that was calling my name. I got her fabric yesterday and wanted to play (really bored w/ the Bonnie Hunter mystery w/ the same block x 1,000, you guys know how much I hate doing the same thing twice let along the mind numbing number of times in a BH mystery). And I don't have the amazing self control of our fearless leader to finish a block and wait to post a picture!!!! lol lol lol

I didn't get the 6 inch piece of fabric that was in the swap, so I couldn't include it. I know you said you wanted multi color prints, and I tired every multicolor print I had that would go w/ the colors in the print, but there was so much going on in the piecing mulit color prints just didn't work at all, so I went w/ an all over red / white, red is a big enough color to count as "multi" right???? lol Thanks for sending the extra big piece b/c it took nearly all of what you sent, just tiny odd shaped pieces left. Hope you like it.

Beautiful Dresden, Kass! It almost appears to be spinning, like looking into an airplane prop.

I think I may one of the last people to discover this “trick”. After pressing still warm, newly sewn pieces, any fabric really, I’ve started leaving them in place with a weight on top until they are completely cool. It only adds a few minutes to a block, less if I use that time to sew something else, but my gosh, the fold lines are crisp! Even without any sizing or starch, the cooling with a weight (a book and an old cookie tin jammed with small scraps) really improves the finished blocks. I read this tip years ago and never tried it but boy, I’m glad I have now. Do you all do this?

Kassaundra, it’s a beautiful block for Givio. I’ll add it into the gallery when I open it up. Thanks for sharing it.

Also, two of the three remaining packages are currently scheduled to arrive today. We’ll see. We had no mail delivery yesterday and while the heavily travelled roads are pretty clear, neighborhood roads are still icy. School is closed again because of them. We’ll see.

It's just that time of year... sigh. Mail delays, services closed, ice. We got only 1 inch of snow Tuesday and it's pretty much shut down everything. Hope this is our last snowfall of the winter.

No, I haven't tried the weighted cool-down of the blocks, but have heard it's great. Now I will have to give it a try. I'm usually in a rush when ironing. It might pay to slow down.
