If both groups are full, which is what you would need to plan for I think a minimum of 5 yards.

You can get 4 per 18 inch wof, w/ 19 f8's per group you would need 10 18 inch wof, which would be 5 yards (you will have one partial 18 inch wof left over) That is w/ no mistakes or any extra for whatever you might want to do (extra blocks sashing etc..)

Well, theoretically there are 8 F8ths per yard. And you would need about 19 for one group and then possibly the same for the other group... 38. So dividing 38 by 8 I get 5 yards, leaving you a couple of F8ths for yourself. I'd buy 5 yards. Yikes, that's a lot of the same fabric!

Thanks for the suggestions and links for fun quilts. I like the idea of string quilts and I have always wanted to learn about those bargello quilts. Traveling Gma, the quilt with the fish is darling.

AnnieQuilts, amazing blocks! My favorite is the one for Mjp. They all are great.

MJp, love that flower block. That is such an interesting block pattern. Very cool.

Got a picture of my Boom 16 quilt at church tonight. This one is for one of my nephews for Christmas. I'm rather pleased with the way it came out.

I might have to rethink my plans! LOL 5 yards is a lot of one fabric .. I had 5 yards of a giraffe print that i was going to send to both but my 13 year old needed 3-4 yards of a fabric to make pj pants in middle school..I couldnt tell him no and its the only piece big enough I had for him that wasnt "girly".. I asked him what the pattern was and he said "whats a pattern"...oh my...cant wait to see the pants! I have about a month to make up my mind...stash or new?? hmmmm Love that quilt!! Its really pretty.. I cant remember Boom 16...Great job!!
