Thanks also for the bonus block tip. I think you always make me a bonus block, which is greatly appreciated. I always feel like I should be reciprocating but most of the time I can barely finish the 19 blocks. I feel much less now guilty now.
Definitely feel no guilt!! I make the bonus blocks because I have fun doing it... not because I expect one back. And I have to have enough left to be able to do it. I don't like to make up a block with just one small square of the person's fabric. I don't feel that's right, as it won't really "belong" in the quilt as well. This time, with my Hummingbird blocks, I'm finding I've used up most all the F8 except for some small scraps.

I haven't decided about my quilt. It might end up being for charity, but applique is fine if that's what you want to do. Did you get the orange birdies?

LOL, "scant" is one thread or two less than 1/4" and is meant to accommodate the "turning" of the seam taking up about that much of the fabric. These days, machines have feet and guide lines on the bed for scant 1/4" seaming. I just eyeball it.

On vintage machines you might have to test your seams and then put your own guide for the scant seam... a credit card taped down works well.

Marti Michell makes all her templates for a whole quarter inch seam, not scant, so you are in good company, Kass!

I am so happy with these two blocks. I had seen the firework pattern last month and couldn't wait to make it for D.henson.
Mollymunchkin had the wonderful starwar fabric and had to make one with the young man's nickname

Wonderful blocks, TG! That pinwheel looks like the 4th of July!

Love the Lover's Knot for Mariposa, DHenson. It looks perfect!

I finished up H'bird's group today and started on Quail's... so here is my first Quail block, one called "Boxes" for Kassaundra. She enclosed the small sample for color matching, and I think I nailed it!

You absolutely did Sewbiz, thanks it looks great. I had forgotten I sent the turquoise and black fabric. I went back and forth about sending it or the zig zag, I was sooooo tired when I did it, I actually couldn't remember which I had sent! lol

Sewbiz: That is a great block. I took a screen shot to help me remember this block. It is very clean looking. The colors work together beautifully.
