Thanks Ann, I love the star, and that paisley print is to cool.
W/ points it is hard to over size and cut down, I don't know if that is what you are doing, but when people are used to doing that for making the blocks it will mess w/ the star points.

I've been specifically looking at civil war era blocks for QM's block. I KNOW I don't have any repo fabrics, but I think I have some small prints w/ browned down colors that will work. (I think they were given to me b/c I know I never bought anything in those colors styles.)

This is why I’m reluctant to do triangle blocks. I usually oversize blocks and cut down. The Carrie Nation block gave me a little more confidence. First block I made without the cut down factor.

As for the points, either your cut pieces are too large or your seams are too small making the block too big when you stitch the sections together. This is where your acrylic square is your best tool. Next time you make a block, if it's a nine-patch like this, make sure each section is exactly 4 1/2 inches square before you stitch them together. Put two together and those two should measure 8 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches. If it's too large, adjust your seams. Keep measuring following every seam. Watch diagonals, btw. Because I look at a lot of the blocks that run through the swap, the place people most often short seams is on that diagonal. Hope that helps.

Anniequilts – I LOVE the block – I am always amazed at those embroidery machines and all they can do. Thank you!!
Aunt59 – I have made 100s of paper pieced blocks. And every now and then it just doesn’t work out. Of course I just did one for Kass and I can’t figure out what I did wrong. Fortunately I have enough fabric for a redo! Hey – maybe its Kassandra’s fabric!!
