I like winter too, but for us here in Mississippi that means in the 40's... We aren't used to the extremes we are getting. Many will have problems with pipes bursting. We have wind now too, which makes the "real feel" temp about 20 degrees lower than the actual.

I will be ready to mail my fabric as soon as I write my notes to enclose. Bring on the Boom!

I can't say enough how much I HATE everything about winter, I don't even like seeing pictures of it. I think anything near or certainly under 50 is too cold for humans. I am convinced each and every winter it will kill me before I get to the bliss of spring. I was born this way, have always hated it even as a child when all the other children were sledding, building snowmen and snow forts I didn't want to be out in it.

Yes, they really do bother me. 'Specially after reading that they only give 1% of what they get to animal shelters. They're paying themselves pretty hefty salaries. Seems they also target women over 65 for their donations. Advice is to give to your local ASPCA or local shelter where 100% will go for the animals. Those commercials that they're constantly running could buy a lot of dog and/or cat food.

That's exactly why you may want to look at your local shelters and not the national organizations. Better to put the money directly into your community in my opinion. I do donate to animals but I do it to the local jaildogs program. Think Pitbulls and Parolees only the guys are still in jail and they work with the dogs and now cats who are in there with them. They adopt directly from the county shelter so animal lives are being saved. If you have ever watched P&P and saw one show a few years back about a jail dog program, that's actually right here in my community. It's a grand program and the one where I know my money will go directly to help the dogs and ultimately the inmates.

Didn't know about the "women over 65" -- good to be informed!

I donate for animals locally only. My comment was wishful thinking. I'm a hopeless softie for children and animals!

Kassaundra, We had hawks take some of our chickens too, full grown chickens! The hawks must be strong to do that. We've also had losses to opossums and raccoons. And the herons come and eat our koi and goldfish. My husband planted a willow that bends over the pond, and we haven't had a heron problem since. Apparently, they lost their 'bird's eye view' of fish dinner swimming in a pond and just fly on by us. I'm sorry to hear about your chickens. It's sad, especially when you name them and they are pets with personalities you come to love.

I was wondering if you could download the Merry Mayhem mystery quilt clues today? What do you think could be done regarding the medium light and the medium dark fabric, in order to give the pattern more interest? It's a large area of the same fabric, when the blocks are sewn together. Could the triangles be striped fabric and come out with the stripes at right angles? In my mind, I'm thinking that with the sewing method used, the stripe would just continue to run the same direction... I'm thinking I might make a second quilt top with this pattern, but maybe I'll consider changing up the lights and darks vs. the mediums, as one of the mediums I was thinking of is a solid. Maybe I shouldn't use a solid at all. Any suggestions, anyone?

I think this is the first time since I've been part of the swap that the 2 month group has had this many members. It nearly filled up! Yay. I'm still scraping to find one more odd piece to send, to make my numbers, so I won't be doing the extras in the two month group this time.
