Beautiful block, GramE. FYI, I did not design any portion of that quilt layout. It was a LQS BOM (block of the month) from a quiltshop more than a decade ago. The layout is one of two options designed by the person who created the BOM. I don’t recall her name but will post it when I return home later today. Btw, the centers of each block are 6 inches and the whole block finishes at 12.

The binding of 3 quilts and a 90 degree day are not compatible. Especially when they have minky and fleece on the back!

So, I made myself a block. I like the look of it better than I expected.

I think i’ll Make 3 more and use them as a center for my quilt. I saw Janice’s BOM quilt post and liked the center she had designed.

The BOM was designed by Susan Garman. It was called The Kinship Series. The setting was by Vicki McGowan and Kathy Johnson. I didn’t want anyone to think I was Taking credit for the designs. Btw, the black print will be attached in 8 pieces and mitered at the corners and both sides of the middle blocks on the side. It’ll look something like this but of course completely around. I’m still adjusting blocks.

I'm working on a border today having a design dilemma

I like the triangles and the inset diamonds but not sure what I should do for the main border color.

I did understand that this was a BOM design. I really like the way the half square triangles made another star! I like metered corners but find i’m better at them when I do them regularly. Every now and then isn’t enough to keep it etched into my brain. And I got a UFO out a while back and had to put it away it was frustrating me so. Every seam was a different size it seemed.

GramE, I was very surprised to discover how off my blocks were. I recall sewing them and thinking their size was quite good. Umm. No! Only one could loosely be called 12 1/2 inches. Very loosely! Lol. It’s frustrating dealing with all the different sizes so I’ve resorted to something I never do...spraying them and stretching them. A bad way to compensate but if I have to fix them all, they’ll never get done. This one will be a “good enough” quilt. This one time good enough will just have to be good enough.

Kass, your blocks are beautiful and soft but I am helpless with border colors. Had I done this, I’d have played it super safe and pulled from the block colors for borders. You went bolder with the insets which are very interesting btw but I don’t know now what colors would work for the border. Someone more experienced with color can probably help. I look forward to seeing your solution.
