Sewbiz hope your power wasn’t out long. We had a real problem with water soaked trees falling here. The city tore up the sidewalks and replaced them. In doing that they cut many of the boulevard tree’s roots. After days of rain we lost massive amounts of the citiy’s majestic trees. Talk about an uproar. Very sad

I love it when the power goes out, esp at night. Weird, huh? It hardly ever happens here anymore. When it does, it’s because of some power grid failure somewhere up the line or perhaps trees down on the lines outside of our neighborhood. Hardly ever lasts longer than 30 minutes. Sbg, I would have loved the pure night sounds you experienced. Now if it lasted longer than a couple of hours, you know I’d be complaining extensively though. Some friends still live in NJ and they had storms a few of years ago that knocked out power for weeks. It was an adventure for them, but not in a good way.
Terriamn, that’s so sad about the trees. A real shame.

We were without power for two weeks after Hurricane Katrina, way back when. Everything normal in life was suspended... it was an experience of a lifetime. Many good things came of it. Glad we were out in the country tho, and didn't have to contend with the masses of evacuees in the city. That was a little scary.
Terri, I'm sad about your town's trees, too. I love old trees.

I am still waiting to be able to sit down and sew all the blocks together. They are all cut and bagged up waiting for stitching. I have been working in the yard, the house, and customer quilts getting set for foot surgery next week that I have not gotten a chance to sew them together. It is weird looking at 40 blocks that are waiting to be made up.

Well....in keeping with the group theme I injured my back. I can sew ok but can’t really do any cutting. My husband agreed to help me cut out my remaining 6 blocks as long as they are all the same and relatively straight forward. I’m thinking of doing the simplex star, hoping that will go ok in everyone’s quilts!

Sad day here. My brother in law is going into hospice. He is not at death’s door but the cancer has spread to his lungs and he is no longer taking treatments. They are trying to schedule him quickly to replace his bile duct stent so he will be more comfortable
Pam sorry about your back. Hope you are somewhat comfortable.

Terri, so sorry to hear the news from your BIL. Hospice will keep him as comfortable as possible. Spend all the time with him now while you can.
Pamela, you forgot your bubble-wrap suit, didn't you? Hope your back feels better soon. Nice of your DH to offer to help you out. He sounds like a keeper.
