A warm welcoming to all our new boomers. You will love it. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
My no new fabric moratorium lasted about 2 weeks. Decided to add a second border to the snow flake quilt. Since I shopped from my stash for first border and don’t love it went shopping for second border without the quilt top. Sure hope what I purchased looks great with it

If you shop your stash first it nullifies any purchase from the store, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! lol

Reminder to please remove selvages before cutting your fabrics into the F8s. For the purposes of this swap, selvages are unusable in our blocks. Also, be sure to pre-wash all of your own fabric you use in blocks for others. If you routinely don’t pre-wash, please do so for this swap. You can gently pre-wash small pieces if you cut them larger than you anticipate needing to allow for shrinkage, gently swirl in the sink and then gently dry them either in a mesh laundry bag or pillowcase in your dryer or allow to air dry partially and then press them dry. Be careful not to stretch the pieces. When dry, you can then cut the size needed and everything in the block will have been pre-washed.
Anyone else have another method for small pieces?

Welcome to all the new boomers! This will be my second one, I had a blast last time. As a matter of fact, I think my enthusiasm for this boom might be contagious, vikkim is my Mom. She was with me when I was fabric shopping for just the right boom fabric and the rest is history.
Oh so many fun fabrics! Can't wait to see, touch and play with them soon! I'm paying close attention to all the ideas and instructions shared - it's helpful as I narrow down my choice for my 1st Boom fabrics.. I can see how you all make exceptional blocks regardless of the fabric given
And hope to gain some of your creativity the next few months too!
Terramm - I love the blue baby - super sharp!
TravelingGramma - I wish I could find real produce that looks that good LOL. I love the idea of jar blocks too! I'm already trying to think of a clever Mason Jar label idea..
I'm heading into the city tomorrow (btw - that's a 50+ mile one-way drive for me) and my favorite LQS will be the 1st stop! Can't wait to see which fabric(s) jump into my cart for this BOOM - pics soon!

A little birdie told me about the family connection.
. And that’s how it can start, “Ooh, that’s a beautiful fabric!” And next thing you know, you're off and running.

Welcome back and welcome to our little family!! We would love to hear all about you so we can get to know you. Oh and we do have a sense of humor here - but never a negative word. Feel free to ask questions - that is the way we learn. And we do learn a lot from each other. Encouraging words are always welcome.
There is no fabric that we can't make into a beautiful block. And you will have fabric that you will think "what were they thinking" and it will be a challenge to work with it. And then you see what beauty comes from it! It always amazes me.
My first boom, I was asked to use only black. I had never used black or even owned a piece of black material. I just could not visualize it. But as the blocks started showing up together - wow did that look terrific. Black is now in my stash! I can't speak for the others - but there is always one fabric that you want to make a dozen blocks with because you love it. And there is always one that will push yourself out of your comfort zone to make a block.
