Blocks for TravelingGramma, MJPEncinitas & MacyBaby.

We don’t get trick-or-treaters at our house, unfortunately, bc we’re too far out in the desert. I usually go back East and go with my grandchildren and have tons of fun, but not this year. Hopefully next year🧙‍♀️

I’m really enjoying seeing all your blocks! Sue

Thank you MadebySue for that wonderful unique modern block. I love it.
We usually have a great Halloween. We give out books, 70 -100 kids trick or treat at our house. It’s fun to hear the kids yell ‘ it’s the book house’. We set up a soup dinner party for 20-30 people. My friends usually come in fabulous costumes. I wear my cleopatra costume, John projEcts spooky pictures on our upstairs balcony. We sit on tables on the driveway and watch kids pick out which book they want. Almost all the kids really love it. Obviously, with Covid we didn’t do any of it. The health department is asking people not to trick or treat this year. Halloween morning I made stock in the instant pot and am baking a large butternut squash. I realized I was really missing my favorite holiday and was making the soup I usually make for the party! It’s not the same. Today is Día de los muertos, I am thinking about the half of my original family that has passed on. Next year I think I’m going to make an altar for them. I miss my mom, dad and sister. Ah well, next year will be better.

Ladies, all of the blocks are looking great! Everybody has really come through in this Boom. I got home late last night. I'm tired, but loved my week at the OBX. Sad because one of my 35+ year OBX friends was missing this fall. A little worried about her. Here's just a little of what my week was like this time.

I've got my blocks picked out and started pulling fabric this morning before heading to work. I think the reason I don't like purple is that I really struggle with matching that color. It seems that no matter what I select, it's either too "blue" or too "red" to go with like I'd prefer. It's funny that I don't have this problem with any other color, just purple. Unless it's an exact match, it just looks off to me.

MadebySue - Love the horses - who can have a western quilt without them. thank you. Next time you head up to Phoenix let me know and we can meet up
Libster - great memories of the Outer Banks, And I miss the ocean so appreciate the photo.
MacyBaby - I am with you on purples. I love pansies and picked up some fabric once. then laid out all the "matching" purples and thought they all clashed! Was never happy with it. Oh well, many other colors to play with.

MJP, glad u like the block. Your fabric is really nice. In Tucson we have a huge All Souls Procession, canceled this year, but I’ve walked in it for my family members who have passed. It’s really incredible. What a Halloween you have!

TravelingGM, glad u like the horses. The colors went well with your fabric. I’d love to get together and will message u the next time I’m headed to Phoenix!

Hope u all have a nice week!

It's a virginia mullet or whiting. I like them filleted on one side, bone in on the other side. No wings, just fins spread. We do have a small flying fish in our coastal waters, but it looks different than this one.
