Time to wash and cut. Today is the day. No more thinking or pondering. Time to get it done. Cut today and post office ASAP.

Photos later today.

Thanks for the photo of the slinky hack, Terri. I don't think it will work for out setup because the feeder hangs down from an eave of the roof. But I will remember it for another time. Smart thinking.

Love the Farm Girl idea, Anna. I have the second Farm Girl book and have yet to make anything from it, so I will get to break it in on your block. That will be a cute quilt.

Good on your walking, Janice! I am really struggling with the heat. I'm still trying, but the heat and humidity make me feel like I can't breathe. Gotta get creative on when and where I can get my steps in.

About the block fabrics, size, etc: Just wanted to say that in the last swap I got at least 4 fabrics that had the selvedges on. In fact, I've yet to get a whole swap's worth of baggies that were all free from selvedges. Let's try harder and let the removal of selvedges be the first thing we do before we cut our fabric.

Today is hubby's birthday. I'm out to buy his cheesecake!

Thank you, SBG, for your input about the selvages. I’ve also found several pieces in recent swaps that contain selvages. Let’s try to get them all off this round!

Unbelievably, I’m back to having a clicking sound on my sewing machine, my Juki. It’s driving me to distraction. Am hoping this doesn’t mess with my block making.

The weather has taken a turn to somewhat milder here and walking shortly after dawn is nice now. I don’t expect it to last but I’ll enjoy it while it does. A month from now it will be cool at dawn.

Have a pleasant evening.

Just returned from Boston. Both DH and I got “doing good, see ya in six months” from the retina specialist.
as we were getting onto elevators we both said we were seeing great after being dilated. Down into garages -AOK. Getting to toll booth were astonished on how we figured out where to scan ticket and crcd. Then we got into the light. It has to be the first sunny day in weeks. Oh my! There are no straight roads in that city. I am trying to see GPS and he is trying to drive. Absolutely nowhere to pull over and stop. Missed three turns but finally found way to expressway. I started to search and found sunglasses that attached to older glasses but they helped. Never do that again

three hours later we are back safely.

Tomorrow morning I will double check my F8 measurements and go to post office.

It’s after 5 🍷

Started cutting two different fabrics for two different quilts for our Squirrels Boom. Rats! Neither will yield enough fat 8ths. Stop. Back to the stash. Search for another fabric. Found one. Washed and in the dryer. Cutting later. Get your white scraps read for my two color quilt.

Terriamn, post on the Birthday Swap 2.5 day! Ahaw, you can get those borders one before the boom block packages arrive! I have faith in you and your drive to get this one off the design wall and under the needle for quilting. Fun use of all of those small cuts.

Oh dear, I was 100% sure the sign-up thread said a minimum of 10"x18". I mailed out 10.25"x20", because once my selveges were trimmed off, I barely had 41" WOF. Hopefully it's not too small? I have another fabric I can mail out if it is, but mail in my area is being really sluggish, so it would be touch and go to get it to Janice by the 20th.

School starts back up next week. I'm looking forward to the kiddos being busy and in the normal routine again! It's been a busy summer, but a little bit crazy too, with a newborn in the mix.

Hi all!
My eighths are mailed to Janice and she has the tracking number. I sent two fabrics from the same line. One fabric has hummingbirds, the second uses other birds. I plan to use the light blue as sashing, so anything else is fine.

It's very nice to read about all the happenings in your lives. I'm looking forward to living vicariously through the posts while playing with your lovely fabrics. *grin*

So - big happenings in our small town. Saturday night had more excitement than is usual around here. Our local Walmart has been getting a complete reset for the past three months. The grand re-opening is/was set for August 29th. Unfortunately, someone under 18 years of age started a fire in the towel section. Smoke damage throughout but no one hurt. I found out about it Sunday morning when I went to get a prescription. The fire marshall has declared the contents, including the pharmacy and hard goods, a total loss. It is a large blow to our economy. We have two other grocery stores and multiple pharmacies, so that isn't such a loss. But there's no other general goods store except Dollar General types within 60 miles. Plus I'm kind of concerned for the people who lost their jobs. I have no idea when it will reopen now.

Take care and stay safe!

Terri, great candy quilt! I started a quilt using 2 1/2 squares years ago that needs to be completed. SBG, cheesecake...yum, your DH has good taste! NZ, I'm always impressed with how much you accomplish with so many little ones.

Love the hummingbird fabric, should be fun to work with. I've been looking through my quilt patterns looking for different blocks for everyone's fabric. I'm planning on making some new to me blocks this Boom.
