Should we send back the F8 scraps? Can we send some of the fabric we used to make their block?

You get to keep whatever fabric is left over from the F8 we send to build up your scrap stash.

I'm in! I am doing the Sept doll quilt swap the first time and this will be my first time is this kind of a swap! Gonna be fun!
I think I'll start with the smaller group to see how this goes.

    Can't wait!

I would love to do this but have some questions first for those of you that have participated before:
    1. If I join the smallest group approximately what will my total postage cost be?
    2. All in all about how much does it cost to participate after fabric, postage, etc. (I am on a budget)
    3) I am a slow quilter. How hard is it to keep the deadline.

Thanks. I don't want to sign up, if I don't think I can do it, but it looks so fun!

First let me say we sure hope you will join us :) Now I will do my best to answer your questions :)
1). If you are in a small group (this is the first time I am doing the small groups we usually do large ones) your total postage cost will be anywhere from $13.20 to $18.30. Some people can get their F8s to mail for 44 cents and others put them in the 6x9 craft mailers and pay 61 cents.
2). If you do a small group you will need approximately 2.5 yards of fabric but only if you do not want to use it for matching borders and sashing. A safe bet so you can get sashing and borders would probably be 6 yards. Most people use fabric from their stash to make blocks for others but if you have to go to the fabric store you generally do not need much to make blocks. I would say with postage and fabric for your blocks and others the cost for a small group could be as high as $85.00 and this assumes $10 a yard for your 6 yards. I know a lot of places have fabric cheaper and even online can be cheaper. I am trying to give you the highest end I could possibly see it being.
3). Every quilter runs at their own pace but this swap gives everyone 4 months to do their blocks. if you are making 15 blocks in four months you would need to make 1 block per week to meet the deadline.
Hope this helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
    Hugs
    April

For anyone on the fence..... I joined this board to participate in the first Boomerang swap. I have participated in every one since. I love it!

It is a lot of fun and my skills have improved so much. Best of all, April is a wonderfully gracious and supportive hostess!

Just try the small group if you aren't sure! It isn't a huge commitment and you can test the waters!

April, I just a pm. Please count me in! :)

My question is the F8's that we send do they have to be the same fabric, or can we mix match?
I have no ideal how to do this...like maybe I want my quilt to be all different color blocks? No theme...

You can send any way you want. All the same or all different. It will be your quilt.
